Why this blog?

I coped with my preparations and actual move to the other side of the world by living in complete denial - we were just going on an extended holiday. Now we're here and a week into our new life I have to start facing reality.

I'm starting this blog to help me make sense of things. I'm writing for me, to empty my brain of the unfamiliar; to try and regain some control over things I know nothing about yet; to stop over-thinking situations and dealing with the emotions connected to moving to the other side of the world and to be an online record to show the kids when they get older.

If my experiences can make life easier for anyone else in a similar situation then that's a big added benefit.

As I sit in our short-term rental, staring out the window into the sun shining down on the park opposite, with the sound of a couple hitting the tennis ball back and forth in the background, and closer to home, my 2 kids playing together without the usual sounds of squabbling and bickering, I'm sure I can find inspiration to write.

I'm not a writer/journalist, I just like writing. I can't guarantee it will all make sense, as it's coming from my scrambled mind but it's not meant to offend anyone. I must thank my friend Kate from Diary of an Urban house wife who not only gave me the inspiration for this blog but also a very quick, rough and ready, but it worked, crash course in starting a blog. In other words, if you don't like what I'm doing, blame Kate!

So here's to a new life in Sydney. To discovering new things and living new experiences.
