Schools Out For Me

It's been a few years since I was at school, so most of my memories from those days may be a bit distorted. I'm mainly going to comment on the journey my kids are taking during their school years and faint comparisons to my time at school.

I undertook all my schooling in London. My kids have only been to school outside of England so there will be differences beyond that of the changes in education policy over the decades.

So far I'm really enjoying my kids school years. I've been lucky to be able to attend most events and volunteer at the schools. I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to help when the hardcore homework is issued, but so far so good.

Friendships formed at school are often life long, and that's certainly the case for me (hi Kelly) and even more so second time around (Morgen Gill, Helen, Huma, Jenni, Karen, Lorna, Nicole, Prajna). Being part of the parents fundraising and events team at my sons school in Amsterdam has not only helped me keep my events and office skills polished but has also led to me meeting some wonderful, amazing, supportive and sociable friends. Who, despite now being in a different country, I hope never to lose touch with.

Below are a mix of our school discoveries:

Amsterdam School Trips included ice skating; circus skills; apple picking; goat farm; concert hall;

Amsterdam Parent Fundraising and Events Team, fun with disco's; halloween parties; valentines parties; summer fayre; winter market; and the social events disguised as workshops including Scottish dancing; sushi making; running workshop; museum trips; bracelet making; and the evenings out, usually centered around drinking.

Australian School Trips include Australian Museum;
Australian Assembley

Hand Holding
School Art Show
